Today's Prayer

Dear God, please forgive me. I sometimes look at those I see and get frustrated by the way they are. Some are angry and act ugly and even curse. Others have no desire to do what is right. Some just want to "party" and live like the world all the time. Some are lazy. Some are hurting and holding on to bitterness. I don't always understand why they are that way. Then I, in my frustration, become angry and grumble. Forgive me for my ungodly attitudes and complaining. I am sorry. Help me to see the potential in others and to pray for them more and criticize them less. I pray that through my prayers to you and through my Christian testimony and example and through my words and deeds, these people would come to know you or come back and lay their issues on the altar. I pray that we all will lift our burdens to you and drop them at your feet, so that you can take them away and guide us in the way everlasting. Please relieve our griefs and burdens and replace them with your peace. Please bless us as we serve you. Please help us and pick us help when we stumble. Thank you for your mercies. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

"To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit" (1 Cor 12:8).

I walked out of the church parking lot after participating in a training class on hearing the voice of God. As I was talking to a friend I looked over at a woman who was talking to her friend. The words "higher education" popped into my mind.

We had just learned that whenever something pops into our minds that seem foreign to our normal thinking, it is often the Holy Spirit speaking to us. We must connect the thought to an action the Holy Spirit may be desiring us to take.

I decided to be bold and walked over to the woman. "Pardon me, can I ask you if you have, by chance, had a good bit of education in your life?" "The woman responded immediately, "Why, yes. I have two MBAs." I was encouraged to proceed.

"I believe the Lord wants to encourage you that He has directed you in your education and although you cannot see the results of that investment in time and money, He is going to use it for His purposes. He wants you to be encouraged to know this."

The woman was very encouraged by the words I spoke to her. I walked away feeling good about being obedient to His prompting.

Every believer has been wired to hear the Holy Spirit's promptings in our lives. One of the primary ways He encourages believers is through other believers. However, many of us have been duped into thinking we cannot hear God's voice. Today, be especially sensitive to that still small voice inside of you. Whenever a thought pops into your mind that seems out of character for you, consider that it might be the Holy Spirit speaking to you.

Truly understanding the power of gratitude can change your life forever!

Weather Report - A Poem by BJ Gallagher

"Any day I'm vertical is a good day"
...that's what I always say.
And I give thanks for my health.

If you ask me, "How are you?" I'll answer, "GREAT!"
because in saying so, I make it so.
And I give thanks I can choose my attitude.

When life gives me dark cloud and rain,
I appreciate the moisture that brings a soft curl to my hair.

When life gives me sunshine,
I gratefully turn my face up to feel its warmth on my cheeks.

When life brings fog,
I hug my sweater around me and give thanks for the cool shroud of mystery that makes the familiar seem different and intriguing.

When life brings snow,
I dash outside to catch the first flakes on my tongue,
relishing the icy miracle that is a snowflake.

Life's events and experiences are like the weather - they come and go,
no matter what my preference.

So, what the heck?!
I might as well decide to enjoy them.

For indeed, there IS a time for every purpose under Heaven.
Each season brings its own unique blessings.

...AND I GIVE THANKS

"Life's not about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain!" ~~~ Vivian Greene
